SolDial pulls from the U.S. Department of Energy's OpenEI Utility Rate Database (URDB) — over 50,000 utility rate plans — to load your utility and plan, including your time-of-use windows and pricing.
Time-of-use, done right
SolDial reads TOU schedules down to weekday vs. weekend and seasonal differences — not just one window applied to every day. That precision is what lets Autopilot schedule charging into exactly the right cheap window. See Net metering for the export side.
Simple or detailed
On a flat rate, enter a single price. On TOU, prefill from the database or define your own windows. On an hourly plan like ComEd Hourly Pricing there’s nothing to enter at all — see Hourly (real-time) pricing. If a plan keeps one price all day but changes it by season, SolDial treats it as a flat rate with a seasonal price rather than time-of-use, and switches to the right season automatically. You can also add EV charging credits your utility offers.
Critical Peak Pricing
If your plan has Critical Peak Pricing event days, you can enter the critical-peak rate and flag event dates so those hours price correctly — see Critical Peak Pricing. SolDial also warns you if a custom time-of-use schedule leaves a gap or an overlap.
Kept up to date automatically
Once your plan is loaded from the database, SolDial keeps it current for you. When the plan’s price changes by season, SolDial applies the new season’s price on its own as the year turns. And when your utility refiles the plan with new numbers, SolDial updates your saved rate to match — sending you a notification both times so nothing changes behind your back. A rate you entered or edited by hand is always left exactly as you set it. And because the national database itself can lag — a plan marked closed, a filing that’s years old, or a utility that stopped submitting updates — SolDial warns you right in the picker when a plan looks outdated and asks you to check the prefilled numbers against your latest bill.
